"I am committed": Cáritas LAC launches its Safeguarding campaign
This campaign is a testimony of our firm commitment to the security and dignity of all people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through solid policies and regulations, we ensure that we safeguard both beneficiaries and our staff, volunteers and collaborators, seriously addressing any form of abuse and exploitation.
Our daily work focuses on prevention and surveillance, recognizing the importance of fair policies to protect the most vulnerable and promote safe and respectful environments in our work.
To guarantee effective coordination, we have formed a regional team made up of references and experts in the field, representing the 22 National Caritas in the region.
As members of the Cáritas Internationalis Confederation, we are committed to ethical and transparent management. Through the Management Standards, we evaluate and improve our practices, adapting to the needs of each National Caritas.
The "I commit" campaign seeks to raise the importance of safeguarding in all member organizations in the region. We offer digital materials to raise awareness among our teams and a space on our website to sign the Safeguarding commitment, assuming the responsibility of protecting the most vulnerable.
In collaboration with various institutions, we carry out training activities to strengthen our safeguarding policies and practices, with the aim of creating safe environments free from any form of abuse or exploitation. In the words of Pope Francis, "We face the evil that hits the most vulnerable most violently."
Introduction to safeguarding
On our website, we dedicate a space to introduce the concept of safeguarding, guiding us towards the expected behavior of all Caritas collaborators, and the responsibility that our organizations have in this area. The introduction video features the participation of Fr. Martin Cabrera Erro, graduate and master, graduate in Safeguarding and regional advisor for this topic.
This session can serve as initial training or as a refresher course. We hope that both contracted staff as well as volunteers and suppliers of Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean participate in this introductory training. Click to view the page.

Commit to our Safeguard policy signing the form. At Cáritas we take care of each other!
