Faith-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean are making significant contributions to eradicating poverty and ending hunger. They have established a level of trust and legitimacy in their local communities, advancing the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 and 2.

During her intervention, Janeth Márquez, Director of Cáritas Venezuela, stressed the importance of involving vulnerable people in the search for solutions to eradicate poverty and hunger. He highlighted how Cáritas has adapted its methodology to work directly with local communities through parish Cáritas, promoting the active participation of those affected in the design and execution of strategies. This approach has allowed us to develop solid and sustainable links, facilitating effective advocacy both locally and internationally.

Cáritas initiatives include direct assistance, emotional and spiritual support, agricultural projects and nutritional education, all aimed at improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable people. In addition, Cáritas has strengthened its volunteer network, mobilizing resources and generating a tangible impact in various communities. This work not only seeks to provide immediate relief, but also to empower people to become agents of change in their own communities.
