Strengthening Humanitarian Work: Meeting of the Caritas Internationalis Working Group in Caracas
From April 8 to 12, 2024, Caracas hosted the Caritas Internationalis Working Group on Venezuela (GTV), with the aim of strengthening Cáritas' humanitarian work in the country and the region. The meeting, chaired by the Secretary General of Cáritas Internationalis, Alistair Dutton, together with Monsignor José Luis Azuaje President and Janeth Márquez Director of Cáritas Venezuela, addressed the situation of Venezuelan migration and reviewed the Latin American context of action.
During the meeting, the importance of collaboration with organizations such as the United Nations Venezuela and the World Food Program was highlighted, as well as the presentation of key Cáritas Venezuela projects, such as the manual of volunteering and the Information System on Nutrition, Food Security and Health (SISAL).
Cáritas' work in Venezuela focuses on providing support to the most vulnerable through food, health and development programs. This meeting was a crucial opportunity to strengthen humanitarian actions and seek new collaborations for those who need it most, in line with the mission of solidarity and love that characterizes Cáritas around the world.
