In a spirit of fraternity and renewed commitment, the Cáritas Venezuela network held its First Meeting of Diocesan Directors of the year 2026, from February 10 to 13 at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV).

The opening day was marked by hope and the call to service. The installation of the event included the words of Monsignor José Luis Azuaje, Archbishop of Maracaibo and President of Cáritas Venezuela, who urged those present to keep their eyes fixed on the Gospel, and Dr. Janeth Márquez, Executive Director, who highlighted the importance of national coordination to maximize the impact of the Church's action in the territory.

Communion and Active Listening

The central purpose of this meeting is to strengthen the sense of communion in faith that unites the Cáritas family. Beyond technical management, we seek to enliven the mystique that sustains the diocesan teams in their daily work alongside the most vulnerable.

During these days, various active listening exercises are carried out, a key tool to deeply understand the needs of the people. This process allows the Church to respond consciously and creatively to the social and economic context that emerges in Venezuela at the beginning of 2026.

Towards the XLVI Share Campaign

The work tables were in line with the strategic line of the XLVI Share Campaign. The directors delve into the goals of this Lenten initiative, ensuring that this year's sociopastoral action is an agile and supportive response to the country's current challenges.

"Our response is not just logistics, it is a response of faith that is born from listening to our brother to be a Church on the way out, capable of innovating in charity," said Director Janeth Márquez during the exchange spaces.

Cáritas Venezuela is the charitable arm of the Church, which transforms listening into concrete actions that promote justice and human dignity in every corner of the country.
