From May 28 to 30, 2024, São Paulo, Brazil, hosted the meeting "Interreligious dialogue and its impact on social and behavioral change in favor of children" convened by UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund). This event brought together leaders of various faiths to address fundamental issues related to the protection of children's rights and interreligious cooperation.

During the event, topics such as the influence of interreligious dialogue on social change, the comparative reading of sacred texts about childhood, and the role of religious leaders in the protection of children's rights were discussed. In addition, the initiative of faith and positive change for children in Latin America and the Caribbean, the methodology of the Mind-Heart Dialogue and the new steps in interreligious cooperation in the region were highlighted. Strategies for interreligious cooperation in promoting childhood vaccination were also addressed, with the aim of strengthening alliances for the benefit of children, families and communities.

Nicolas Meyer, coordinator of Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean, presented "Closing Gaps in Childhood Vaccination", highlighting the alarming decrease in childhood vaccination coverage in the region. He stressed that health is a fundamental right and that vaccination is essential for the comprehensive development of boys and girls; where Cáritas works tirelessly to promote community health and childhood vaccination, especially in areas with low coverage and limited access to health services.

Meyer explained that Cáritas is committed to reversing this negative trend through various actions, such as information and awareness campaigns, vaccination days in collaboration with local authorities and civil society organizations, and the training of Cáritas agents and community leaders on access to health services, with a special focus on childhood vaccination. These initiatives seek to respond to the call of those most in need and act effectively to improve the health and well-being of children in the region.

This event offered an opportunity to strengthen interreligious cooperation and reaffirm the commitment to the health and well-being of children in Latin America and the Caribbean.
