Content of the subsidy

The material offered is a flexible and complete guide to enrich the spiritual dimension and mission of Cáritas. Includes:

  1. An introductory text, written by Sandra Arenas of the Theological Advisory Commission of Cáritas LAC, places the celebration of the organization's 70th Anniversary – which will run from November 2025 to February 2027 – as a period of deep gratitude and revitalization of its mission. The theological heart of the commemoration is the motto "For the love of Christ urges us" (cf. 2Cor 5.14), which underlines that the fundamental motivation of Caritas is born from an internal compulsion towards solidarity and selfless service. In addition, the jubilee is inspired by figures of holiness such as Monsignor Oscar Romero and Saint Martín de Porres, and is framed in principles such as the Social Doctrine of the Church (DSI), integral ecology and the style of a "Samaritan and going out Church". Concrete activities include a Virtual Retreat, the recovery of the "living memory" of these 70 years and the holding of thematic forums based on its Strategic Framework.
  2. A Liturgical Script provides a support structure so that each national Caritas can celebrate the 70th Anniversary in its local context. Its purpose is to generate a simple moment of thanksgiving, inviting staff, volunteers and related communities. The entrance speech and prayers revolve around the motto "For the love of Christ urges us" (2Cor 5:14), giving thanks for the seven decades of service and asking for the grace to renew the mission as a "Church on the way out, Samaritan and synodal." It is suggested to incorporate the liturgical readings of the day, but fundamental texts for the mission of Cáritas are also proposed, such as Isaiah 58:6-12 ("Share bread with the hungry") and Matthew 25:31-46 ("I was hungry and you gave me food"). regional. This spirituality block is structured around the "Grateful Memory" of 70 years, asking participants to share faces or stories of Caritas as signs of hope. The heart of the Circle is meditation and dialogue on the urgency of Christ's love. The community reflection guideline encourages discernment with key questions such as: "How do we live charity today as a style of the Samaritan Church and in going out?" and "What signs of hope do we see today in the midst of our difficulties?"
