Since February 2024, Haiti faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis due to violence by armed gangs in the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area. In June, more than 578,000 people were internally displaced, with access to food being one of the priority needs for these displaced people and their host families.

In addition, Haiti's Civil Protection Directorate has announced a very active hurricane season for 2024, with more than fifteen storms expected. Fortunately, Hurricane Beryl did not have major impacts in Haiti.

In response, Caritas Internationalis, Cáritas Haiti, together with other humanitarian actors, has launched EA 21/2024 HAITI, which will benefit 11,900 people in five affected departments. The program, which will be implemented in two phases of six months each starting August 1, 2024, will include the distribution of food, hygiene kits, psychosocial support and educational materials.

The total budget of the program is 229,011,706 HTG (1,602,507 euros), and is supported by Caritas Internationalis and CRS. Caritas Haiti continues to invite other organizations to contribute to ensure the implementation of the program and improve the living conditions of the Haitian population.
