Cáritas Mexicana meets with 40 diocesan Cáritas at its national meeting

Approximately 40 diocesan Cáritas met in the Diocese of Querétaro for the National Caritas Meeting 2024. This meeting aimed to strengthen the identity and structure of the diocesan Cáritas and encourage regional and international processes.

During the opening ceremony, Bishop Engelberto Polino Sánchez, President Bishop of Cáritas Mexicana, and Bishop Fidencio López Plaza, Bishop of the Diocese of Querétaro, led the Eucharistic celebration. Participants discussed the Strategic Frameworks of Caritas Internationalis and Latin America and the Caribbean, reflecting on the support services necessary at the diocesan level.

Presentations on the role of older people and young people in Cáritas stood out, with the participation of Lic. Sarahi Elvira Franco and Lic. Paola Oviedo Martínez. In addition, Ms. Verónica Alcántara Valle presented the certification process in the Caritas Internationalis Management Standards that Cáritas Mexicana is implementing.

Finally, attendees visited the CEDONA project containers and the bazaars of Cáritas Querétaro, co-host of the meeting, promoting a circular economy model and supporting migrants and homeless people.
