Cáritas LAC launches key publication to support organizations in fundraising and mission sustainability

Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean is pleased to announce the launch of the publication, "Don't Fear, Move Forward: Reinventing the Path to Continue Serving – Strategies for Sustainability". This document, created by AEDROS (Association of Executives in Resource Development for Social Organizations), arises as a strategic response to the current challenges faced by humanitarian organizations and, of course, national Caritas in the region. The document was launched within the framework of the virtual training on the same topic for pastoral agents that began on June 5.

The publication is presented at a crucial moment, where the interruption of international cooperation funds, such as the closure of USAID programs, has revealed the prevailing need to diversify funding sources and strengthen the sustainability of the mission. Far from being a manual of "magic formulas", this booklet is a pragmatic and visionary guide, designed to accompany Cáritas' managers and fundraising teams in the search for new routes to sustain and project their work beyond traditional cooperation.

The title of the publication, inspired by the book of Isaiah 41:10 ("Do not be afraid, for I am with you, do not worry, for I am your God; I strengthen you and help you, I hold you with my victorious hand"), reflects the spirit of hope and action that permeates its pages. It is emphasized that sustainability is not a mere economic plan, but a shared conviction that implies the transformation of beliefs, behaviors and systems within the organization.

The work comprehensively addresses the challenge of sustainability, highlighting the importance of diversification and proposing new routes for financing, including individual donors, companies and business foundations, the State and international cooperation.

A central aspect of this publication is the emphasis on the training of Cáritas pastoral agents and teams, recognizing the installed capacities as an invaluable asset. The booklet invites us to "revalue what we have learned and multiply what we have", and to build an organizational culture oriented towards sustainability, where the development of resources is understood as an integral part of the evangelizing, community and pastoral mission.

We invite all national Caritas, pastoral teams, volunteers and allies to immerse themselves in this valuable publication and to actively participate in the construction of new routes to continue serving with generosity and commitment in Latin America and the Caribbean.
