The project "Strengthening the risk management capabilities of the MAGRE team in Latin America and the Caribbean" aims to improve humanitarian preparedness and response, update codes and capacities, and strengthen tools for the execution of humanitarian strategies to build resilient and sustainable communities.

General information about the contractor

The Latin American and Caribbean Secretariat of Cáritas (SELACC), advises and strengthens the Cáritas network in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its mission is to encourage the transformation of the reality of people in the light of the Gospel and the Social Doctrine of the Church, promoting a just, fraternal and supportive society.

Consulting

This consultancy seeks to guarantee the diagnosis of institutional and territorial capacities for comprehensive risk management and response to emergencies in the 22 National Caritas, divided into four zones, Central America and Mexico (CAMEX), the Caribbean, Bolivariana and Southern Cone.

Consultancy Times

The total time for the development of the consultancy is 3 months from the contracting. For the purposes of clarifying the obtaining of partial results, 3 moments are established; (1) Construction of the Baseline. (2) Participatory capacity building for comprehensive risk management and community-based emergency response. (3) Outline the institutional architecture and networks.

Technical requirements and experiences of the consultant

The professional must demonstrate knowledge in the areas of consulting through experience certificates. A Social Sciences or Exact Sciences professional with experience in risk and emergency management, participatory methodologies, and management of virtual resources is required. You must have knowledge of concepts and methodologies for community advocacy in emergencies, the Humanitarian Agenda at the international and regional level, humanitarian norms and standards, and the international and regional architecture for DRR and humanitarian response. In addition, at least 3 years of experience is required in the design of community-based Disaster Risk Management mechanisms and in the treatment of emergencies, preparation of participatory diagnoses, support for community initiatives for local development, and design of research and related documents.
