Caritas Internationalis Participates in the 14th Summit of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD)

Caritas Internationalis (CI) is proud to be part of the 14th Summit of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD), which will be chaired by France and will take place in Geneva from 23 to 25 January 2024. This event represents a significant milestone and a valuable opportunity for States and stakeholders to address the main migration challenges and set priorities for political action.

Since its inception in Since 2007, the GFMD has been a key, informal and non-binding, government-led process that brings together experts from all regions and countries in all phases of economic, social and political development. In this edition, under the theme "From environmental concerns to cultural aspects of migration: adopting an inclusive approach to address challenges and multiply opportunities", participants will discuss six crucial thematic priorities.

CI, as a member of the International Civil Society Steering Committee, has played an active role in the GFMD process, contributing to civil society advocacy documents. The civil society delegation, made up of 120 members from various regional and international networks, will be represented by Ms. Cecilia Nicoletti, CI Migration Advocacy Officer, and Ms. Cecile Stone, volunteer from the CI Geneva Delegation.

The GFMD Civil Society Preparatory Meeting will take place in Geneva on January 22. CI shares this document as a valuable contribution of reflection and recommendations on the six thematic priorities of the Summit.
