The Social Pastoral of the Church is a concrete expression of service rooted in the daily lives of people, with the intention of bringing gestures of love, fraternity and solidarity to the communities most in need. In Ecuador, the Cáritas Social Pastoral exemplifies this commitment by accompanying and serving vulnerable families, promoting their integral development in accordance with the principles of the gospel. In particular, the work ofCáritas diocesana de Ibarra focuses on vital areas such as food, education and health for the most disadvantaged families, as well as providing support to the population in human mobility, as evidenced by the care offered to the elderly at the León Rúales Asylum and the Juan Pablo II Center.

In addition to serving the older adults, the Vicariate of Social Pastoral of Ibarra is dedicated to the protection and training of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations. Through the John Paul II School Canteen, food, educational and psychological support are provided to 70 young people at risk, both locals and migrants. This commitment extends further, offering training to parish teams, accompaniment to the migrant and refugee population, as well as care for early childhood at the Child Development Center (CDI), considering the high incidence of violence they face. It is important to highlight that this work is not limited to material assistance, but seeks to dignify people and prevent situations of exploitation, as highlighted by Sandra Chacón, Cáritas Ibarra technician.
