Cáritas Honduras participates in an exchange program on electoral processes in the US.

From January 27 to 31, 2025, Wilfredo Cervantes, director of Cáritas Honduras, was part of the Honduran delegation that participated in an exchange program in the United States on electoral processes.

The initiative, organized by the United States Department of State, seeks to share experiences and good practices in the management and supervision of elections.

“We are now invited by the Department of State in a series of visits to bodies that have to do with the electoral issue in the United States for an exchange of experiences, to learn what the electoral process is like in the United States, how the issue of disinformation, financing and the influence of other actors is handled,” he explained. Cervantes.

Cáritas Honduras has worked for several years in electoral observation, actively participating in the Network for Equity and Democracy in Honduras (Red H). As part of this effort, it has deployed nearly a thousand observers nationwide to supervise the development of the elections, including the electoral environment, propaganda and voting day.

The exchange program also includes the participation of representatives of political parties, the Electoral Justice Tribunal, the National Electoral Council, the Clean Policy Unit and the academic sector. Through this space for dialogue, we seek to identify good practices that can be implemented in Honduras to strengthen the transparency and equity of its democratic processes.
