Cáritas del Perú, social arm of the Catholic Church in the country, celebrates today, October 4, 69 years of institutional life, walking in the midst of our people, dignifying and improving the quality of life of our most needy brothers and the most vulnerable and remote populations of Peru.

Throughout these years, Cáritas has led sustainable Comprehensive Human Development interventions, projects and programs, contributing significantly to the well-being of thousands of people. Through alliances with civil society, the State, cooperating agencies, companies and private organizations.

In 2023, Cáritas del Perú served 127 thousand families through the implementation of 50 sustainable projects throughout the country, in coordination with the Diocesan Caritas Network, which is found throughout the territory. national. In addition, it provided assistance to more than 5 thousand families affected by Cyclone Yaku, thanks to a solidarity campaign, which allowed alleviating their most urgent needs.

Today, Cáritas del Perú works on five axes of action: Comprehensive Human Development, Management of Risk and Emergency Response, Comprehensive Ecology and Environmental Management, Impact on Public Policies, and Strengthening and Institutional Development of the Network. These pillars guide their work in the search for social justice and the promotion of solidarity.

“On this anniversary, we express our gratitude to all Peruvians who, with their solidarity, have allowed us to reach more people in vulnerable situations. We also appreciate the commitment of the Caritas Network that serves those who need it most. This 2024, Cáritas del Perú, thanks to the national collection “Look with the Heart” 2023, served 238 families affected by forest fires in the regions of Amazonas, Huancavelica and Lambayeque with non-perishable food and water.

Among the most important projects are the recovery of food and support for common pots, which help reduce hunger in the Peruvian population; health and nutrition education for children in school, as well as care for the migrant and refugee population, training for small producers, care for older adults and people with different abilities, reinforcement of political, social and economic inclusion for the vindication of the territorial rights of indigenous communities, timely response to emergencies, among others.

Cáritas del Perú reaffirms its commitment to continue working for the most vulnerable, always bringing hope, love and solidarity.
