Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean begins the first edition of the Diploma in Deepening Safeguarding

On Tuesday, August 4, Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean began the first edition of the Diploma in Deepening Safeguarding, a regional proposal that brings together 62 participants from national and diocesan teams, all with previous training in the subject.

The Diploma represents a new step on the path that the regional network has been taking to strengthen safeguarding and promote increasingly safer environments and a culture of care in the Cáritas of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The proposal combines conceptual depth with a theoretical-practical methodology. Based on the analysis of specific cases and situations, participants will be able to review practices, share experiences and build responses to the challenges that arise in the different contexts of the region.

Comprehensive safeguarding policies

The tour places special emphasis on prevention and the construction of a culture of care, strengthening capacities to recognize risks, develop criteria for action and generate institutional practices that place the dignity and care of people at the center. people.

Throughout the process, the design of comprehensive safeguarding policies, the development of specific action protocols and the accompaniment of victims and survivors will also be deepened, seeking that the learning can be translated into concrete tools and actions in the national and diocesan Caritas.

An integrated training path

This new proposal collects and deepens the learning of the training processes developed in recent years in the region, building on the experience of the three editions of the Virtual Diploma in Safe Environments carried out between 2024 and 2026, which allowed the formation and strengthening of teams in different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Diploma will be developed during the months of August, September and October, combining synchronous meetings, theoretical-practical work, exchange spaces and the accompaniment of a regional team of tutors and facilitators.

The participation of people from different countries and realities. expresses a commitment that continues to grow in the network: that the culture of care is not only a set of principles, but a transversal dimension of the identity, links, decisions and daily practice of Cáritas.
