From July 25 to 27 in Bogotá, Colombia, the second annual meeting of the community of practice Walking Towards Peace was held, which aimed to promote a collective analysis of the regional context and the historical moment that the Church is going through in Latin America.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the different Catholic organizations that are part of the community: Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean, The Community of San Óscar Arnulfo Romero (COAR), the Good Shepherd International Foundation, CIAS for Peace, Pax Christi International, Cáritas de Honduras, Cáritas de El Salvador, Centro Zonal de Pastoral Social (CEZOPAS), Pastoral Social Cáritas Colombiana, Institute Foundation for the Construction of Peace (FICONPAZ), Human Rights Office of the Archbishopric of Guatemala (ODHAG), Cáritas Acapulco and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

This space also served to strengthen the capacities of the representatives of the organizations that participate in the community, which helps to generate strategic impacts in the construction of peace based on concrete proposals.

Space of hope

The meeting worked with a Latin American vision and with the mission of putting the gospel at the service of those most in need, working in favor of human dignity and the construction of peace that our region needs so much. In the words of a representative of the Good Shepherd International Foundation: “The community is a space of hope that makes us see and act from the heart.”

Joint work

The meeting was attended by Wilfredo Cervantes, director of Cáritas Honduras, who explained that this analysis space “allows us to identify the common challenges we face at the regional level, and has also been an opportunity to relate it to the work of the communities that participated in the XX Latin American Congress and the Caribe de Cáritas, the participation of 4 member organizations -Cáritas- from the region in this space that allows us to visualize the relevance of joint work between the community of practice.
