Caritas International has successfully concluded EA 16/2020-2023 of Cáritas Venezuela, an intervention aimed at providing humanitarian assistance and protection to families affected by the prolonged crisis in the country. During the third year of the project, and with the support of CRS as Facilitating Partner, significant results were achieved in eight dioceses of the country, benefiting a total of 392,758 people directly through various interconnected activities in key areas: food security and nutrition, water/hygiene and sanitation, health and institutional strengthening.

Specific Objectives Achieved:

1. Nutrition:Children under 5 years of age and pregnant or lactating women at nutritional risk were identified and treated early.

2. WASH – Health:Access to a primary health care system and safe water was facilitated for families in vulnerable communities, with special attention to sanitation, hygiene and prevention of COVID-19.

3. Food Security:Vulnerable families received food assistance adapted to their needs.

4. Institutional Strengthening:The capacities of the Cáritas network were strengthened to respond effectively to the Venezuelan crisis.

The implementation of this project overcame the barriers encountered during the execution period. The continuous monitoring process was essential to achieve the objectives, as well as the training and support that allowed the dioceses to exceed the planned goals. Cáritas Venezuela maintained a firm focus on objectives, results and indicators, demonstrating a high capacity to adapt in a changing environment full of uncertainty, facing constant and emerging challenges.

This coordinated and successful effort reinforces Cáritas' commitment to continue supporting vulnerable communities and improving their resilience in the face of crises.
