Faced with the complex human mobility crisis that the Central American subregion is going through, driven by structural, socioeconomic, environmental and security factors, the Latin American and Caribbean Secretariat of Cáritas (SELACC) announced the opening of the call to hire a Project Coordinator (Pilot) on Human Mobility.

This regional initiative, which will be implemented specifically in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, aims to consolidate a coordinated and synodal ecclesiastical response. The project seeks to optimize the mechanisms of reception, protection, integration, promotion and political impact in favor of migrants and their families.

Ecclesiastical synergy and international articulation

The operational leadership of the project will be under the responsibility of Cáritas Latin America and the Caribbean, in direct alliance with the Scalabrinian Sisters, the Jesuit Network with Migrants (RJM) and the National and Diocesan Caritas of the three countries of intervention.

Likewise, the initiative has the support and co-financing of sister agencies of international ecclesial cooperation such as CAFOD, Cáritas Española, Cáritas Italia, the Swedish Church and Secours Catholique.

The selected professional will have among his main functions to ensure the operational implementation of the plan, facilitate collaborative work spaces between the organizations partners, manage technical reports and design and promote political advocacy actions and analysis of the subregional context.

Required profile and conditions of the position

The call is aimed at professionals graduated in Social Sciences, International Relations, Human Rights, Political Sciences, Law, Social Work or related careers (desirable with specialization in human mobility), who have between 4 and 6 years of experience leading humanitarian or development projects in human mobility.

Among the key requirements are in-depth knowledge of the structure and identity of the Catholic Church, management of immigration regulatory frameworks and demonstrated experience in complex regional coordination processes.

Duration of the contract: 9 months (pilot project), with the possibility of renewal.

Modality and dedication: Provision of full-time professional services, in teleworking/virtual mode (8-hour shift). Monday to Friday with punctual availability to travel).
